History

Salmon & Cia. - Sucessores de P. Laforge was a Brazilian music publisher from Rio de Janeiro. The owner, Leopoldo Luiz de Salmon, probably a lithographer from a Belgium family. The house started to publish music in ca.1842, with the famous collection for piano Flores guanabarenses (1842-1857). In 1851 they bought Pierre Laforge's publishing house and started to reprint works previously published by him. In 1853 Bento Fernandes das Mercês joined the company The publisher was sold to Narciso José Pinto Braga (from Arthur Napoleão firm) in 1869.

Published the collections Flores guanabarenses (1842-1857), Progresso musical (1853-1857), O livro de ouro dos pianistas (1854-1857), Recreio dos flautistas (1856-1857), Abelha musical (1858-1859).
