Navigation etc.

  • Zarzuela in 1 act? Two folders with drafts at BDH: [1] and [2]. Some numbers are in full score, others only sketched. Dated ca.1900 at BDH.
  • Six musical numbers and the numbering of the scenes point to a one-act composition (No.1 may be an overture or an opening chorus scene). However, in the second folder there is an "Acto 3o, Preludio" sheet and a draft of "Barcarola" (Esplendido está el día) not found in Nos. 2-6. The piece may have been in 3 acts with composer working mostly with the first act by the time he abandoned it. Or these leaves may belong to some other composition. There is a solid book about Manrique de Lara written by Diana Díaz González (2015), if someone could check it.
  • If the "Parlante" is placed between Nos.2 and 3 (Coro), than it must be scene 5.
  • Clara and Elvino are sopranos.
