I like you when you shut up ... for voice and piano by Salvador Torré with text by Pablo Neruda
Taking that universal text so well known to all that is the poem 15 of the "20 poems of love and a Desperate Song" by Pablo Neruda, I wanted to do a rereading, or rather extract one of the multiple meanings of this poem, with music. This with the reason for a performance that was presented in Nuremberg Germany in May 2018 whose motive was "Woman". I would have liked to take a nice feminine theme, but I could not ignore what is happening in Mexico with women now many years ago and the impunity with which murder is treated with intent and extreme violence towards women, so the subject could not to be other than Feminicide in Mexico and other parts of the world. This is the origin of this idea of using the polyvalence of meaning of this poem, using the great quality of art that is to suggest, evoke, propose, comment, being stronger and more effective than harsh reality.
The form is that of the German Lieder or short lyrical song whose lyrics are a poem to which music has been put written for solo voice and accompaniment.
