Irmãos Vitale

History

The Vitale brothers, Vicente, Emílio, João, Afonso and José, were business partners and owned the music publisher Irmãos Vitale. Created by Vicente Vitale in 1923, the house still exists. Their catalogue includes Brazilian classical and popular music, International repertoire and educational methods.

Irmãos Vitale bought other publishing houses catalogues, like Vieira Machado & Cia., Casa Levy, Impressora Moderna Ltda., Ernesto Augusto de Mattos and CEMBRA, becoming the major Brazilian publishing house after 1940. In the 1960's they also created the recording label Copacabana.

Today the business is managed by the second generation of the Vitale family.
