The better preserved of 2 inscriptions discovered in the Athenian treasury at Delphi in 1893 and first published in the Musical Times (June 1, 1894, pages 386-387), the so called 1st Delphic Hymn bears an attribution to Athenaeos that was long read as an anonymous Athenian.
